To begin with, it needs to be understood that in Counter-Strike: Source (CS), there are many different map types. This type are:
Bomb Map (de). The Terrorist goal within a bomb map is always to go to a unique location (marked in your map) and plant an explosive. The explosive is on a timer, so once it really is planted, you have to defend it until detonation.
The counter-terrorist goal on bomb maps would be to avoid the terrorists from planting the bomb no matter what. This can be done through the elimination of all of the terrorists, defusing the planted bomb, or (occasionally) defending the bomb site until time finishes.
Hostage Rescue (cs). In hostage rescue maps, the principal goal for counter-terrorists is usually to rescue hostages captured and held through the Terrorists. You can also win by reducing the terrorist team.
The Terrorist goal would be to simply stop the counter-terrorists from rescuing the hostages by eliminating them, or maintaining control over the hostages until time ends.
Bomb Maps – Counter-Terrorist. As a counter-terrorist on bomb maps, the best longterm option (definitely) is usually to get rid of the terrorist team before they’re able to plant the bomb. Defusing the bomb making you a sitting duck, and this is a scenario you would like to avoid. Keeping the terrorists looking to plant the bomb means you can remain on the defensive, giving an advantage.
Bomb Maps – Terrorist. As being a terrorist, your only goal is to completely overrun a bomb site. If you can’t manage a bomb site within the first Thirty seconds, your team will more than likely lose the round. The best method is to rush everyone with a team except for Several (tops) to a single site. The other few players will act as a distraction with the other site, hence the counter-terrorists guarding it do not come in as re-enforcements.
Hostage Maps – Counter-Terrorist. I’ve found the best process to be spreading the c’s out and attacking all angles. Coordinate a simultaneous attack if at all possible, but be certain nobody just “runs in, guns blazing,” because that technique almost guarantees death inside a hostage map.
If someone side with the attack manages to punch through and obtain inside area under Terrorist control, the rest of the team should move to that area to be able to help the attack.
