How weddings have changed within the decades! Coming from a handful to 400-500 invited guests; one-two to six-eight wedding ceremony members; an easy wedding car to expensive and big wedding cars; three course meals to six course meals; one-three live bands; simple attire to colorful and flamboyant dresses, suits and attire and off-the-cuff to well-prepared wedding speeches.
Talking about the latter, wedding speeches continue to be an important part of being married and guests do enjoy hearing them, talking about them before, during as wll as after they’ve been delivered.
We are all aware of wedding speeches delivered prior to meal, during the meal and after your food, yet it’s of an strong opinion that the wedding speeches needs to be delivered following your meal. I understand that for many wedding ceremony speakers i.e. Father of the Bride Speech, Father in the wedding speeches (the five main speakers), they will prefer to possess the wedding speeches prior to meal, for them to enjoy their meal (many of them are paying for it!). However, it’s all about the invited guests and how many of them (as well as the wedding ceremony venue staff) would rather the wedding ceremony speeches to be delivered as soon as the meal for a lot of reasons, many of which include:
The invited guests have already been fed and watered and are not paying attention to wedding speeches on an empty stomach (at least of food, which would be ahead of the meal, though weddings today do provide light snacks upon arrival with the wedding venue)
Food could be cooked and served on the agreed time (introduce wedding ceremony speeches before the meal in addition to their is actually a delay of Quarter-hour to a single.5 hours, driving the kitchen staff crazy always keeping food freshly cooked, presentable and edible)
Wedding ceremony speeches become the transition from the meal on the dancing (without a penny happening as soon as the meal, folks are expecting ‘a few words’ to become shared regarding the Bride & Groom then they understand they can stand up, move around, take a rest, go for a walk, go to the bar…)
It can be hard for folks in the Bride & Groom to communicate in in public places, as most of them wouldn’t be used than it. So, they can, when they so wished, speak before the / their meal.
There should nevertheless be some type of formal wedding speech(es) following the meal…
