Whenever the phrase “Theology” is mentioned, pictures of the seminary, thick theological books, Greek and Hebrew terms, as well as other highfalutin expressions belly approximately one’s mind. It looks like “Theology” is restricted to the “holy ones”, the “chosen ones”, as well as the intellectuals. Should you be accustomed to the writings of Karl Barth, Martin Luther, Augustine, and so forth, you are close to inner towards the group of friends of biblical scholars.
Far more if you can speak their language and is also able to produce an academically accepted theological work. I’ve been trainees of your Bible School and Theological seminary. Both institutions have solved the problem to own deeper insight to Church History, Systematic Theology and Biblical backgrounds. Yet even midst the lessons and classroom discussions, questions still roam produce. Are typical these true? Don’t misunderstand me. I’m a firm believer that this Bible may be the sole authority over life. I believe that the Bible is the Word of God. But being an ordinary mortal, I’m caught between the arena of reality and faith, and bridging the gap derived from one of to another is a pretty mental and spiritual feat. Yet, I believe, too that God’s Spirit and grace reaches work to teach us beyond exactly what the mind can not comprehend.
Theology is defined as the study of God, through the Greek word “Theos” (God) and “logos” (study of). According to such, does is imply that Theology be learned? Can God be grasped through the human mind? Can God be described merely by words? If a person includes a doctorate degree in Theology, would which means that that, the pharmacist has already a strong grasped of God Himself?

I’ve met professors of various degrees, and I have met simple folks with simple thoughts. Yet, comparing about how they view God and express who God is usually to them, the first sort (most, but not all) could have a mouthful of jargon of expressions in the books… a Greek word there… a Hebrew term there… leaving his / her listeners at loss in space. Alternatively, the latter, the straightforward ones, would discuss about it practical things they have experienced of God’s character. If for the children God is good, they speak of how God presents for the kids or has provided them good stuff.
From whom would I listen more, to the academician or to individual who gets the practical experience? This is a common praoclaiming that “Experience is the better teacher.” Theory would only remain a theory unless it is proven true by experiments or by real experience. To put it differently, Theology would only be mere concept of God, unless you have an actual example of that truth about God.
God is indeed real, but unless that reality transcends the mind and is also familiar with everyday situations, the conviction for these truth would never go deep in one’s heart and soul, nor he or she may convince others to imagine in this truth.
